Katherine Hatton is a visual artist and storyteller with a passion for animation, film, and all things imaginative. Her creative journey began during her studies at the University of Lethbridge, where she graduated with great distinction in 2018, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media. While exploring a variety of digital disciplines, Katherine found her focus in animation and film—mediums that let her bring characters, ideas, and emotion to life.

To continue sharpening her artistic voice, Katherine undertook a prestigious practicum in Design and Animation at the renowned Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity from 2019 to 2020—an experience that deepened her love for narrative-driven visual work. And then, like for so many creatives… COVID-19 reshaped the world.

Today, Katherine works as a contracted Digital Media Specialist, where she focuses on creating social media graphics, print materials, and website assets that align with brand messaging and audience needs. She also serves as a Course Facilitator for Graphic Technologies at Algonquin College. In this role, Katherine leads online discussions, guides project-based learning, and encourages critical thinking in design—bringing real-world insight to the virtual classroom. She also authored and developed the course curriculum, ensuring it reflects current industry tools and trends.

In addition to her academic and institutional work, Katherine has built a solid reputation as a freelance and contract designer, collaborating with a range of clients across industries—from construction companies and local gaming societies to retail brands, mechanics, makeup artists, and counselling services. Whether developing full visual identities, designing digital campaigns, or producing custom illustrations, she approaches each project with thoughtful creativity and a solutions-driven mindset. Her contract work has strengthened her ability to adapt quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver consistent, high-quality results on time and on brand.

Inspired by cartoons and movies, comics and games, mystery and romance, Katherine aspires to create emotionally resonant, thought-provoking stories—particularly within underexplored genres in Western animation, like psychological thrillers and film noir.

She’s a bright, curious, and hard-working artist who believes that a good story (and a good cup of tea) can change everything.
